Today, on International Women’s Day, we pause to reflect on the remarkable women who have shaped our lives and world. Their resilience, courage, and compassion inspire us daily, and we celebrate their extraordinary contributions.

Queen Amina of Zaria, Funmilayo Ransome-Kuti, Dr Dora Akunyili, and Dr Ameyo Adadevoh are fierce warriors of change, who fought tirelessly for women’s rights, health, and equality. They broke barriers and reminded us that no sacrifice is too much. Okonjo Iweala, Chimamanda Adichie, Mo Abudu and Ibukun Awosika have paved the way for generations of women through their words and strides.

But International Women’s Day is not just about renowned figures; it’s about celebrating every woman’s journey. From the single mom striving for her family’s success to the working-class lady who, against all odds, rises to be at the top of her career, irrespective of what people tell her. Not forgetting the young girl pursuing her dreams in art, tech or business, we celebrate all.

Today, let’s all honour the indomitable spirit of these remarkable women and indeed all women in Nigeria and across the globe. Let’s build a world where every woman and girl can excel, every dream can take flight, and every voice is heard.
